Photographer, Giles Duley and artist Jamie Reid have collaborated to create a poster to promote VENT – an open collaborative anti-war project in association with Legacy of War Foundation. Combining Giles’s powerful photography with Reid’s iconic artistic stylings, the hard-hitting poster can be found around city streets, certain to provoke conversation (above, captured in Liverpool).
Art cannot change the world, but it has the power to inspire those who can
VENT is an open collaborative project in aid of the Legacy of War Foundation’s No More War campaign. Creatives are invited to interpret the theme of No More War through whatever medium they see fit. ‘Paintings, posters, designs, films, collage, music, dance: whatever medium allows you to express your feelings on the theme’. There are also resources to get started with a bespoke font, stencils and Giles Duley’s photography to get started in creating. On his photography being used for this project, Duley says ‘they can be destroyed, painted over, ripped or copied’ with the VENT website continuing, ‘What holds the value is the person in the image and their story. That is what must be respected and valued in this project.’
Since 9/11 US-led conflicts have resulted in the deaths of 387,072 civilians, displaced 38,000,000 from their homes and come at a financial cost of over $8tn

Some incredible work by artists Mike McQuade, Lamia Benalycherif, and Toni Hollis are already setting the tone for an impactful and thought-provoking project. Accompanying the project is a short film that profiles the victims of war on 8mm film and photography with narration by Giles Duley.
Art has always been at the forefront of revolution and social change.
